Candy Corn Day

When : Always October 30th

National Candy Corn Day is today. Enjoy a handful of this sweet Fall treat. And, what perfect timing. National Candy Corn Day comes just a day before Halloween. That means you can eat plenty of it, before you go out Trick or Treating.

Candy corn is enjoyed all year long. Place it in a candy dish any time of the year, and watch it disappear by the handful. By far, the vast majority of candy corn is consumed during the Fall months, with both Halloween and Thanksgiving being the biggest times to eat it.

Candy corn was invented in the 1880s by George Renninger, and first manufactured by the Wunderle Candy Company. The Goelitz Candy company was the first to manufacture mass quantities around the turn of the century.

Candy corn consists primarily of corn syrup, honey, and sugar. There's lots of carbs(sugar), but it's fat free!?

Have a happy  National Candy Corn Day.

Create A Great Funeral Day

An extremely new holiday – Create A Great Funeral Day is barely a decade old. Registered as an official holiday by Stephanie West Allen as a way of attempting to relieve the pressure of having to decide what a loved one would want for their final send off.

The Day was founded with the hopes of getting loved ones to sit down together and talk about what they would want at their funeral so their loved ones know when the time comes and do not have to juggle their grief with trying to plan a funeral and guess what they would have wanted, even if it is just so much as a particular song played at the funeral, or words for the headstone.

Mischief Night

When : Always October 30th

Mischief Night is today, errrr tonight! It is an evening when people traditionally participated in harmless (please) mischief. We stress harmless or innocent mischief. Other forms of mischief can lead to big trouble. Even seemingly harmless mischief can be the source of problems.

This night is discouraged by law enforcement organizations. The mischief is sometimes less than funny, and can even lead to vandalism or destructive.

Important: We neither encourage, nor endorse participation in this day. Why risk getting in trouble??

Historically, some common forms of mischief on this has included:

  • Soaping windows
  • Egging houses and cars
  • Tossing a few rotten tomatoes
  • Toilet papering house trees, etc.
  • Knocking on doors, then running away

Have a happy, safe, and harmless  Mischief Night.
